The main footage of the movie “Stop Making Sense,” set to be released nationwide on February 2nd (Friday), has been unveiled.”
The film, directed by Jonathan Demme, titled ‘Stop Making Sense,’ captures a live performance by Talking Heads held at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood in December 1983. Initially released in Japan in 1985, the film has seen several re-screenings. However, using negatives that had been dormant since 1992, A24 has resurrected it as a 4K restoration. The sound has undergone a complete remaster supervised by Jerry Harrison himself.
In the released footage, David Byrne appears alone on an empty stage with a cassette deck. Accompanied by the recorded beats, he performs ‘Psycho Killer,’ one of their iconic songs depicting a dual personality murderer, in an acoustic solo rendition.
On Wednesday, January 31, Paramore’s cover of “Burning Down the House” was released on A24’s “Stop Making Sense” tribute album. In addition to Paramore, the album features Miley Cyrus, Lorde, girl in red, The National, Teezo Touchdown, Kevin Abstract, BADBADNOTGOOD, Toro y Moi, Blondshell, DJ Trojan, and DJ Trojan, Blondshell, DJ Tunez, Jean Dawson, Chicano Batman, The Linda Lindas, El Mató, and The Cavemen.
