Star Channel will broadcast a special program, “Ryuichi Sakamoto Collection.
This special broadcast will be held in conjunction with the special screening “Ryuichi Sakamoto Premium Collection” currently being held at 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku in Shinjuku, Tokyo, until December 28 (Thu.). Sakamoto is one of the first Japanese to win the Academy Award for Best Music Composition for a film, and also appeared in the historical drama “The Last Emperor [Original Full Length Version],” produced by A24 and featuring the original theme music, “After Jan,” held in New York, USA, in 2017, Ryuichi Sakamoto PERFORMANCE IN NEW YORK: async,” which is a recording of a “visionary limited live performance” that was held in New York in 2017 and only 200 audience members were allowed to see.
The broadcast dates are Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 17:00 and Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 9:15. The three films will be broadcast consecutively for approximately seven hours on each day.
