“PARCO Advertising 1969 – 2023” will be held at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO in Shibuya from November 17 (Friday) to December 4 (Monday).
The exhibition will reinterpret the history of advertising creativity over the past half-century since PARCO opened in 1969, from the perspective of the present, and will offer a panoramic view. The exhibition is structured to trace back in time by setting keywords for each period, such as “Art (2000s and after),” “Shibuya (1990s),” “Advertising (1980s),” and “Prophecy (1970s),” and representative posters and commercial films from each period will be exhibited.
The works on display will be selected by two guest curators from each area in the form of a dialogue. The “1970s” was curated by Chizuko Ueno and Yusai Harada, the “1980s” by Noi Sawaragi and Masanobu Sugatsuke, the “1990s” by Maki Nomiya and Masaya Chiba, and the “2000s and Beyond” by Rintaro Fuse and Yume Nomura. The content of each discussion will be screened at the venue and will also be published in the official leaflet sold at the venue. Admission to the exhibition is free.
