A special trailer and scene photos have been released for the film “The Saint Of The Impossible,” which will be released in theaters nationwide on January 12, 2024 (Friday) at Shinjuku Cinemakarite and other locations.
The film is the feature debut of director Mark Wilkins, whose short film “Bon Voyage” was nominated for Best Short Film at the 89th Academy Awards. Based on the novel “De heilige Antonio” by Arnon Grunberg, the film depicts the immigration issues facing the United States and the bond between parents and children through the lives of a mother, Rafaela, and her two sons, who abandoned their native Peru to live as illegal immigrants in New York City.
The role of Rafaella is played by Magali Soliel, a talented actress of South American descent, and her sons, twin brothers Paul and Tito, are played by Adriano Duran and Marcello Duran, actual twins selected through auditions in Peru. The mysterious and beautiful Christine is played by Tara Saller.
The special trailer begins with the son saying, “I don’t want to be treated like an invisible man anymore. The film also shows Rafaella, a waitress, being scolded by a customer for not touching children, and Tito, a bicycle rider, being yelled at by a driver and apologizing even though he was hit by a car. The film shows three people living hard in New York City. At the same time, 10 scene photos were also released, including a scene of the twin brothers lying on the grass with Christine, with whom they have fallen in love, a tired-looking father and son on a subway train, and a view of New York City.
The theme song for the Japanese version of the film is “winnie” by THE TIBA, a two-piece garage rock band attracting attention as a new generation band. The band commented, “Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I feel that the lyrics are strangely suited to the film, and I feel like I have a new story to tell about WINNIE. We would be happy if we could warmly support the story of the movie.
