The trailer and Japan-Exclusive poster for the film “Wonka,” which will be released in Japan on December 15 (Friday), have been released.
The film is a prequel to the 2005 film “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” about the young Willy Wonka. The fantasy film depicts Wonka’s struggle to build a chocolate factory in a medieval European chocolate town where top chocolate makers gather.
Directed and written by Paul King (“Paddington” and “Paddington 2”). Timothée Chalamet, also known as “the next Johnny Depp,” plays Willy Wonka. The cast also includes Hugh Grant, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, and Rowan Atkinson.
The trailer is narrated by Mamoru Miyano, who dubbed Willy Wonka in the Blu-ray version of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” with additional Japanese dubbing. The Japan-only visual poster, which has also been released, features the words “Everything begins with a dream” from Wonka’s late mother, which she carries deep in her heart. Behind Wonka, chocolate and cotton candy cherry blossoms, which also appear in the film, bloom brightly, while Noodle, the girl who becomes Wonka’s good buddy, and Oompa Loompas, the little gentleman who steals her chocolate, peek out from behind her.
