Original sound art by Etsuko Yakushimaru has been implemented in the international arrival area of Haneda Airport Terminal 2.
The sound art can be heard when arriving at the international arrivals area of Haneda Airport Terminal 2, which reopened in July 2023. The sound art reflects real-time information such as the time of day, weather, and temperature, showing “Tokyo Now,” and allows visitors to experience a sound that is unique to that moment each time they arrive.
In conjunction with the implementation, a video work consisting of images of the international arrival area at Haneda Airport Terminal 2 has also been released on MIRAI records’ YouTube page.
Etsuko Yakushimaru’s work, “I’m Humanity,” which includes genetically modified organisms, will be exhibited at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, in 2023, and her work is also highly regarded internationally.
