“I’m Humanity” by Etsuko Yakushimaru is on display at the exhibition “OF GENES AND HUMAN BEINGS” at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, Germany, until September 10.
The work “Of Genes and Human Beings” is a music piece created using the genetic information of microorganisms that have existed on the earth since ancient times and genetically modified microorganisms with the music information incorporated into their DNA. In Japan, the work has been exhibited at the Mori Art Museum, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, the National Museum of Nature and Science, and other museums, and in 2022 it was included in exhibitions in four countries: Italy, Portugal, China, and Belgium.
