As part of the “SPAC Fall → Spring Season 2023-2024,” new productions of “Izu no Odoriko,” “Otsuya no Koi” and “Bara no Kishi” will be staged at the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center from October through March 2024.
The October and November productions of “Izu no Odoriko,” based on an original story by Yasunari Kawabata, will be written and directed by Junnosuke Tada, the leader of Tokyo Deathlok. In addition to the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center, the play will be performed at Shimoda Civic Cultural Hall, Shuzenji Sogo Kaikan, Hamamatsu City Hamakita Cultural Center, and Numazu Civic Cultural Center.
Natsuki Ishigami will direct “Otsuya no Koi,” based on an early work by Junichiro Tanizaki, to be performed in December, and Satoshi Miyagi and Ayako Terauchi will co-direct Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s “Bara no Kishi” an opera by Richard Strauss, to be performed in January and March of 2024.
