Yumei’s new play “Heartland” will be performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, Theater East starting April 20.
Yumei was founded in 2015 as an organization that produces stage productions, art, and videos. Their stage work “Sugata,” based on real-life experiences related to heredity and family, was selected as “Stage of the Year 2019” by “TV Bros.” magazine and “Teatro” magazine’s “Best One for the Stage in 2019.
This production is set in a run-down community deep in the mountains, far from the city center, where people gather for various reasons, hoping to escape the competitive life and live in the countryside. The production will also use video staging and motion-capture VR images to simultaneously depict a metaverse community as well as theatrical expression.
