Mrs. GREEN APPLE has released “Brand New,” the Japanese theme song for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside a newly unveiled conversation with stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon.
The song was written exclusively for the Japanese release of the upcoming Marvel film, which opens in Japan on July 31. Set four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film follows Peter Parker (Holland) as he navigates life in isolation after erasing himself from the memories of those he loves. Destin Daniel Cretton directs.
Inspired by Peter’s resolve to protect others despite his solitude, “Brand New” was developed following discussions with key members of the film’s creative team, including Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, producer Amy Pascal, music supervisor Dave Jordan, and Cretton.
To mark the release, Mrs. GREEN APPLE joined Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon for a special video conversation on YouTube. After introducing themselves in English, Motoki Omori, Hiroto Wakai, and Ryoka Fujisawa reflected on collaborating with the Spider-Man franchise and spoke with the cast about the film and its music.
One highlight came when Omori revealed that the lyrics were inspired by Spider-Man’s iconic web-shooting pose, explaining that from another angle the gesture forms the internationally recognized sign for “I love you”—a detail that surprised the cast.
The conversation ended with the band announcing that they will attend the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles later this month. Holland responded, “I can’t wait to see you there!”, before both sides exchanged the “I love you” hand sign.
Also released alongside the digital single are a new interview with Mrs. GREEN APPLE and a special video message from Tom Holland, both now available to watch online.
