Nujabes’ 15th Anniversary Memorial Event to Take Place in Four Cities

A special music event titled “A TRIBUTE TO NUJABES: The 15th Anniversary of His Departure” has been announced to commemorate the late Nujabes, the renowned music producer and trackmaker who passed away in 2010. This event will take place across four cities in Japan, with the first show kicking off at Tokyo’s Omotesando WALL&WALL on Friday, February 21, followed by performances in Kyoto on February 22, Osaka on February 23, and Fukuoka on February 24.

The Tokyo show will feature a highly anticipated performance by haruka nakamura, who worked alongside Nujabes on the album MELODICA and the tribute album Nujabes Pray Reflections. After a decade-long absence, nakamura will return to perform a special DJ & live set in honor of Nujabes. Also taking the stage will be pianist Noriko Kose and DJ Ryow a.k.a. Smooth Current, who will perform as the newly-formed duo Sonart. Furthermore, DJ Chika a.k.a. Inherit and Kenmochi Hidefumi, both of whom played significant roles in the success of Nujabes’ label, Hydeout Productions, will share tracks that pay tribute to the iconic producer.

In addition to Tokyo, the event will also feature notable performances in Kyoto, Osaka, and Fukuoka. DJ Chika a.k.a. Inherit and DJ SHOTA, known for his widely popular Nujabes tribute sets, will perform at the Kyoto, Osaka, and Fukuoka shows. The Osaka performance will also showcase CM SMOOTH and FUJIFILTER, while Fukuoka will feature CHIO, MASUO, Ryo.sh, and SOHKI (Special 10 Records). A special vinyl exhibition dedicated to Nujabes and Hydeout Productions, curated by Yosuke Nishida, will be on display at the Fukuoka event.

This series of performances promises to be a heartfelt tribute to Nujabes’ legacy, bringing together influential artists who were closely connected to his musical journey.
