The film ‘Underground’ directed by Kaori Oda, set for nationwide release on March 1, has officially been selected for the Forum section of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, which opens on February 13 local time. Along with this announcement, the film’s trailer has been released on YouTube.
Directed by Kaori Oda, known for ‘Kō (ARAGANE)’ and ‘Cenote,’ the film delves into Japan’s underground world. The film stars Nao Yoshikai, a filmmaker and dancer recognized for her memorable dance performance in Kenshi Yonezu’s “Lemon” music video and her directorial works, including Shari. Yoshikai portrays “Shadow,” a being that takes the form of a woman.
The trailer features glimpses of “Shadow” emerging from the underground darkness, wandering through various places such as the underground and a temple in the mountains.
Additionally, special advance tickets are available for purchase at Eurospace in Shibuya, Tokyo. The first 100 buyers will receive a DVD containing the short film ‘TUNE’ (2018), directed by Oda.
