The Silent DJ event “Dancing SENTO” will be held at Hinodeyu in Moto-Asakusa, Tokyo, on Wednesday, February 12.
The event, which turns a public bathhouse into a dance floor, is being held for the first time in about five years to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the silent event brand “Silent it.” Hinodeyu, a public bathhouse established in the early Meiji period and deeply rooted in the local community, will provide attendees with wireless headphones to enjoy the music played by DJs in two separate “Furo-A” spaces (bath areas) for men and women. During the DJ sets, the water in the baths will be drained, and all participants will be fully clothed, allowing for free movement between the men’s and women’s baths.
The DJ lineup for the men’s bath area will feature the event’s producer and experience creator Yu Amemiya, DJ GO (KICK OFF), and SICK BOY. The women’s bath area will be managed by DJs Kuramari, CIELY, and HiTOMi. Additionally, dancers Sarasa Shinme and LINDA will perform, and VJ AnZ will handle the “Furojection Mapping,” a unique twist on projection mapping. Furthermore, the event will include a screening of the film Yuwakashi Sanako, 29 Years Old, which was inspired by Dancing SENTO.
After the DJ sets, the baths will be refilled, allowing attendees to wash off the sweat before heading home. While the water is being filled, a talk event called “Sentok,” featuring director Kaho Higashi and lead actress Ueno Ume from the film Yuwakashi Sanako, 29 Years Old, along with Hinodeyu’s bathhouse manager Yuichi Tamura, will take place.
