The free-entry music event exPoP!!!!! Vol.168, organized by NiEW, will be held on Friday, December 20th, at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Sponsored by the music distribution service “TuneCore Japan,” the event will feature performances by Haruko Oishi, E.scene, Honoka, and Eminata.
Haruko Oishi, a singer-songwriter born in Osaka and raised in Kanagawa, began her music career after graduating from university. She released her first single, “Okoranai de ne,” in 2019, and her debut album Myakukou (released in 2022) garnered significant attention, winning a special award at the APPLE VINEGAR – Music Award. On October 23, she released her first single in two and a half years, “Saten no Tsuki,” and she is set to release a new track titled “Takusan” on December 25.
E.scene is an alternative R&B band from Niigata, consisting of Makoto (Vocals), CHIPPI (Bass), and Yoshinao (Drums). Known for Makoto’s smoky, distinctive vocals and the band’s mellow, groove-driven sound, E.scene has gained attention at various events such as FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL‘s “ROOKIE A GO-GO” and SYNCHRONICITY. Makoto also gained recognition for performing the iconic “Ginga Tetsudo 999” in a Toshiba corporate brand commercial. On October 23, the band released their first digital album All Around You, which includes the theme song “Vector” from the film SOUND of LOVE.
21-year-old singer-songwriter Honoka began her career on SoundCloud in 2021. Her vocals, which are both delicate and ethereal yet strong at the core, captivate listeners. Honoka has a unique ability to create experimental yet universally appealing pop music that blends genres. In December 2022, she released her first EP Kokoro ni Onshitsu, and later that year, she won the grand prize at the Victor Entertainment / Colourful Records 10th Anniversary Audition, gaining significant attention. On April 17, 2024, she will release her second single “Yasashii Kaminari,” featuring mixing by Ozora Kimishima and artwork by Shuu Yonezawa, followed by a digital single titled “Asahi” on December 11, 2024.
Eminata, who is participating as part of the TuneCore Japan audition, is a soul-pop artist from Zushi, Kanagawa. She has performed at various festivals and events, including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL‘s “ROOKIE A GO-GO.” In 2024, she will release her debut album Red, and in August, she released Eminata The Red Show Live, the live recording of her first sold-out solo concert. Eminata has garnered attention for her seamless use of Japanese, English, and French, creating a captivating world of beautiful vocals and thoughtful lyrics that transcend language boundaries.
