The horror film ‘The Mouse Trap’ is set to be released in Japan in March 2025.
The movie is inspired by Walt Disney’s 1928 animated short ‘Steamboat Willie,’ which introduced the world to Mickey Mouse. This short became part of the public domain in the United States on January 1, 2024, after the expiration of its copyright protection, providing the backdrop for the creation and release of ‘THE MOUSE TRAP’.
Directed and produced by Jamie Bailey, known for works such as ‘Deinfluencer,’ the film is a horror live-action adaptation influenced by the public domain transformation of Disney characters, similar to the horror live-action movie ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.’
The film is set in a game center, where Alex, who is about to turn 21, is working late when a surprise birthday party is thrown by her old friends. Suddenly, a killer resembling Mickey Mouse appears, pulling the group into a deadly “game” for survival.
