The fourth wave of performers for the much-anticipated ‘Montreux Jazz Festival Japan 2024’ has been unveiled, set to take place at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama, Kanagawa, from December 6 to 8.
Since its debut in 2015, ‘Montreux Jazz Festival Japan’ has upheld the spirit of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival, which has been a fixture in Switzerland since 1967. After a pandemic-induced break, the festival returns in 2024 with exciting acts, including iconic figures like Herbie Hancock, alongside YOKO KANNO SEATBELT, Bialystocks, WONK, the Masato Koda Trio “TRiNFiNiTY+”, and TOMOAKI BABA ELECTRIC RIDERS (Special Guest: BIGYUKI).
Joining the impressive lineup are Petrolz and Shing02 × THE EITHER with SPIN MASTER A-1. Petrolz, formed in 2005 by Ryosuke Nagaoka, Atsushi Miura, and Toshihide Kawamura, is known for their genre-blending style that merges jazz, rock, soul, and funk. Their immersive performances captivate audiences with an intense focus on the fleeting moments when each sound fades into silence.
Shing02 × THE EITHER with SPIN MASTER A-1 is a collaborative unit featuring Shing02, a hip-hop artist based in Honolulu, Hawaii; THE EITHER, a trio from Shanghai that incorporates the shamisen and erhu; and SPIN MASTER A-1, a sound creator and DJ turntablist residing in Yokohama. Having just completed a performance in Shanghai with Shing02 and SPIN MASTER A-1, THE EITHER will make their first appearance in Japan at this event, where they will perform the “Luv(sic)” series, created by Nujabes and Shing02.
Tickets are currently available for the fifth round of presale until Friday, November 15, and new VIP seat benefits have also been announced. VIP ticket holders will have access to a priority entrance and a dedicated lounge, in addition to receiving an exclusive T-shirt and a streaming ticket for the documentary film They All Came Out To Montreux, produced by the BBC, which explores the history of the Montreux Jazz Festival.
