Suzuki Mikiko’s major label debut album Abara will be released on January 29, 2025.
The band, Suzuki Mikikoズ, is an alternative two-piece formed by Mikiko Suzuki (vocals/guitar) and Zu (drums), based in Nagoya. In 2022, they gained attention after being simultaneously selected for the ROOKIE A GO-GO stage at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and the RISING★STAR at the RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL. In October 2024, they made their major debut with the single “Iwakanto Kyuukutsu” on PANAM, a folk/new music label under Japan’s Crown Records. The label, home to iconic artists like Kaguyahime, Iruka, Haruomi Hosono, and the Moon Riders, welcomed Suzuki Mikiko as its first female vocalist in nearly a decade.
The upcoming album Abara, which is set for release, will feature a total of 12 tracks, including the single “Iwakanto Kyuukutsu.” While further details will be announced periodically, Suzuki has shared a long message on her X account, describing the album as “something like a diary.”
On December 28th (Saturday), Suzuki Mikikoズ will hold their self-organized live event Shinzou no Souon (“The Heartbeat Noise”) titled 2024 Year-End Edition at Shimokitazawa SHELTER in Tokyo. The event will feature a two-man live performance with the three-piece band Hwyl, whose live video of their 2022 release “Kurashi” became a hot topic on social media.
