Bong Joon-ho’s latest film ‘Mickey 17’ will be released in Japan on February 7, 2025.
This marks the acclaimed director’s first film in five years, following his historic success with ‘Parasite,’ which won the Palme d’Or as the first Korean film and garnered four Academy Awards out of six nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The film is based on the novel Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton.
Under a massive corporation dedicated to the advancement of humanity, the protagonist, Mickey, finds himself on an ultimate mission after failing to read the contract thoroughly, leading to his repeated deaths and resurrections in new bodies. As the vanguard of the development team and humanity itself, he becomes embroiled in an extraordinary and dangerous adventure on an uncharted icy planet.
The lead character Mickey is played by Robert Pattinson, known for ‘TENET’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.’ The film co-stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.
