The Japanese poster visual for the film ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,’ set to be released in theaters on December 27 (Friday), has been unveiled.
Based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s original work ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ the fantasy film trilogy has achieved massive success worldwide, including in Japan. The upcoming installment, The War of the Rohirrim, takes place 200 years before the trilogy and expands upon the story of King Helm, the mightiest ruler of the knightly realm of Rohan, as described in the appendices of ‘The Lord of the Rings.’
Kenji Kamiyama, known for his work on ‘Eden of the East,’ ‘Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex,’ and ‘Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit,’ serves as director. Additionally, Peter Jackson, who directed and wrote the original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and ‘The Hobbit’ series, is the executive producer, while Philippa Boyens, who co-wrote the screenplay, is involved as a producer.
The Japanese poster visual released on September 30 (Mon.) depicts the young princess Hela, daughter of King Helm and skilled in horsemanship and swordsmanship, standing bravely with the knights of Rohan behind her, holding a sword and shield. At the top of the image, King Helm and Hera’s childhood friend Wulf, who poses a threat to the kingdom, are depicted with their backs turned toward each other, indicating their strong beliefs. In the Japanese dubbed version, Hera is played by Fuka Koshiba, King Helm by Masachika Ichimura, and Wolf by Kenjiro Tsuda.
