The “Aphex Twin Quiz Competition,” set for October 3rd (Thursday) at 8 PM at Tower Records Shibuya, is making waves.
This event marks the 30th anniversary of Aphex Twin, also known as Richard D. James, and his iconic ambient album Selected Ambient Works Volume II, which he released at just 22 years old in 1994. To celebrate, an expanded edition featuring additional audio will be released on October 4th (Friday).
The event will host a quiz competition centered around Aphex Twin, accompanied by a store play of Selected Ambient Works Volume II. The winner will be rewarded with an exciting prize package that includes the “Windowlicker Umbrella,” a hit from Aphex Twin’s 2018 pop-up, a rare vinyl available only at festival venues in 2023, a Warp logo slip mat, and the latest Aphex Twin T-shirt. Plus, all quiz participants and attendees on the day of the event will receive a poster of Selected Ambient Works Volume II.
The event venue, Tower Records Shibuya, will host an advance sale of Selected Ambient Works Volume II (Expanded Edition), giving fans the chance to purchase the CD/LP ahead of everyone else.
Additionally, the event will be live-streamed on Instagram. Social media is already buzzing with reactions, including comments like, “I wonder what questions will be asked” and playful responses to the quirky title “Aphex Twin King.” To participate, attendees must register in advance via a special form, where they’ll need to provide Aphex Twin’s real name.
