The Korean artist Lee Jin Ah and the Yun Seok Cheol Trio will embark on their Japan tour titled “Good Korea Lounge: Lee Jin Ah & Yun Seok Cheol Trio Japan BLUE Tour” in October, with performances scheduled in Tokyo and Osaka.
Lee Jin Ah is a singer-songwriter who gained attention through her appearance on the survival audition show “K-POP STAR 4” in 2014. While her music is rooted in intricate jazz piano, she captivates audiences with her pop melodies and uniquely sweet voice. Her exceptional talent earned high praise from many musicians, including JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park, who famously declared, “I will quit music” in response to her performance. Her latest album, “Hearts of the City,” released in 2023, won the Best Pop Album award at the Korean Music Awards, often referred to as the “Korean Grammy Awards.”
The Yun Seok Cheol Trio, consisting of pianist Yun Seok Cheol, bassist Jeong Sang Yi, and drummer Kim Young Jin, debuted in 2009 with their album “Growth.” They create a unique sound by modernizing classic jazz chords and rhythms. The trio gained significant attention with their appearance on “Tiny Desk Korea,” the Korean edition of the globally influential “Tiny Desk Concerts” by NPR (National Public Radio). On August 28, they released their latest album, “My Summer’s Not Over Yet.”
Both artists are signed to the same music agency, Antenna, in South Korea, and this will be their first concert tour in Japan. The Tokyo performances will take place on October 20 (Sunday) and 21 (Monday) at BLUE NOTE PLACE in Ebisu, while the Osaka performance is scheduled for October 23 (Tuesday) at BLUE YARD in the Baluchika 03 building, directly connected to JR Osaka Station. The concerts will feature Lee Jin Ah performing in the first half and the Yun Seok Cheol Trio in the second half.
