The main footage from the movie ‘Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman,’ which will be released nationwide on Friday, September 6th, has been unveiled.
The film is based on the popular Korean webtoon Dr. Cheon’s Exorcism Lab: The Secret of Snow Scene and topped the box office in Korea for six consecutive days from its release in 2023. This unpredictable horror-entertainment story follows a fake shaman who neither sees nor believes in spirits as he battles a series of malevolent demons possessing human vessels using magical talismans.
The lead role of Dr. Cheon, the shaman, is played by Kang Dong-won, known for ‘Broker’ and ‘Peninsula.’ Lee Som, from the Netflix original film ‘Kill Boksoon,’ plays the female client with strong spiritual abilities. The cast also includes Heo Joon-ho from ‘Escape from Mogadishu’ and Lee Dong-hwi from the Disney+ original drama ‘Casino.’ Additionally, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo makes a special appearance. The film is directed by Kim Seong-sik, who previously served as an assistant director for ‘Decision to Leave’ and ‘Parasite.’
The newly released footage shows the reunion of Park Myung-hoon and Lee Jung-eun, who played the basement couple in Parasite. In this film, they portray a wealthy couple who seek Dr. Cheon’s help to exorcise their daughter, who has suddenly begun to act bizarrely.
Director Kim Sung-shik said, “Director Pong Joon-ho (of “Parasite: A Family in the Half-Basement”) was sitting behind me at the screening and he was laughing so hard during that scene.” Regarding the same scene, he said, “I had a personal feeling for the basement couple, so I reflected my wish that they would be happy if they were reborn. I also made sure that the house in the film resembles the mansion in “Parasite: Family in the Half-Basement,”” she said, revealing the story behind the film.
Along with the release of the feature film, a making-of cut was also released. The happy family is shown smiling as they take on the filming.
