The animated film ‘Fureru.’ will hit theaters nationwide on October 4th, and new stills have been revealed for the first time.
The film is crafted by the renowned team behind popular anime like ‘Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day,’ ‘A Silent Voice,” and “The Blue Sky Knows’—director Tatsuyuki Nagai, writer Mari Okada, and character designer Masayoshi Tanaka.
The story follows childhood friends Akito, Ryo, and Yuta, who grew up on the same island. Now 20, they start living together in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. Despite their different jobs—bartender, real estate agent, and fashion design student—their bond remains strong, thanks to a mysterious creature called “Fureru” that connects them through a telepathic-like power. This creature enables them to understand each other’s thoughts without words. However, their friendship begins to waver when they uncover a hidden power of “Fureru.”
The newly released stills showcase various scenes: the friends’ childhood encounters with ‘Fureru,’ their new life in Tokyo, and moments when they connect by touching each other to hear their inner voices.
King & Prince member Ren Nagase voices Akito, who struggles with verbal communication. Ryo is voiced by Ryota Bando, and Yuta by Kentaro Maeda. The cast also includes Haruka Shiraishi, Manaka Iwami, Sarutoki Minagawa, and Kenjiro Tsuda.
YOASOBI contributes the theme song “Monotone” for the film, marking their first time composing for an animated movie.
In celebration of the release, a re-broadcast of the anime “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day” by the same creators will air on Fuji TV starting August 26th, with episodes airing every Monday.

Story: Childhood friends who were once inseparable have drifted apart by the time they reach high school.
- Jintan, the protagonist, is a reclusive student.
- Anaru, who is influenced by her trendy friends.
- Yukiatsu and Tsuruko, who attend a prestigious school.
- Poppo, who has chosen a life of travel instead of attending high school.
- Menma, who remains unchanged since their elementary school days despite the changes in her friends.
One day, Menma asks Jintan to grant her wish. While struggling to understand Menma’s request, Jintan begins to explore what she wants. Menma’s wish serves as a catalyst for the childhood friends, who have each been leading separate lives, to come together once again, just like old times.
