The film ‘The Novice’ is set to be released on Friday, November 1. The trailer and poster visuals have been unveiled.
Winner of Best Actress, Best Picture, and Best Cinematography at the 20th Tribeca Film Festival, the film follows Alex, a novice who joins a college rowing team. Guided by John F. Kennedy’s words, “We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard,” Alex plunges into the fierce competition for a regular spot on the women’s rowing team. Directed, written, and edited by Lauren Hadaway, who based the film on her own college rowing experiences, the film stars Isabelle Fuhrman as Alex.
The Japanese trailer reveals a dark and intense portrayal of Alex, pushed to her physical and mental limits, accompanied by a somber soundtrack featuring string instruments. Fuhrman trained rigorously for the role, waking up at 4:30 AM every day for six weeks and undergoing six-hour water training sessions, embodying Alex’s drive to overcome her limits and descent into madness.
