Tarachine Makes a Comeback with “kew,” Their First Album in 12 Years

Tarachine’s third album “kew” will be released digitally on Monday, July 29.

Formed in Yokosuka, Kanagawa in 2002, Tarachine made its debut in 2006 with the mini-album “Momogengo. In the same year, they released the single “MELLOW GOLD” with Mito of Clammbon as sound producer, and their first album “Sekai no Uta” (Songs of the World), which attracted much attention. Currently, the band consists of five members: Kuwabara Okihiro (Vo/Gt), Shibayama Motoki (Gt), Izukawa Mikiko (Ba/Vo), Nagata Dai (Key), and Tanaka Ken (Dr.).

This is their first album in 12 years since “Beautiful Stories” released in 2012, and “kew” contains 8 songs. With a groove-rich sound, the album sings straightforwardly about the beauty and foolishness of human beings, the irreversibility of life, and the hope that will never disappear. The album was recorded and mixed by Takashi Watanabe and mastered by Kentaro Kimura (Kimken Studio). The visual art was created by Makoto Sukegawa (SKG Co., Ltd.), an old friend of the band members and winner of the Wood Pencil at the 2024 D&AD Awards.

Ahead of the release, a music video for the lead song “spotlight girl” was also released. Directed by Makoto Sukegawa, the video directly conveys the dynamism of the band’s performance.

The band will also hold a release commemorative live concert at 7th FLOOR in Shibuya, Tokyo on August 25 (Sun), a daytime event starting at 12:00 p.m. It will be a three-man live concert featuring the Jiro Miwa Band and I’m Not Like This. Tickets are now available on Tarachine’s official Instagram page. 19 and under are free, and there is a discount for 25 and under as well.
