Fujifabric has announced that it will go on hiatus in February 2025.
Fujifabric, a rock band formed in 2000 by the late Masahiko Shimura on vocals, continued its activities with support members after Shimura’s passing in 2009, comprising Sōichirō Yamauchi (Vo/Gt), Shinichi Katō (Ba), and Daisuke Kanazawa (Key). Celebrating their 20th anniversary since their major debut in February 2024, they released their 12th album titled “PORTRAIT,” demonstrating a vigorous continuation beyond Shimura’s tenure.
Following Kanazawa’s decision to depart from the band, citing having dedicated himself fully to the band over the past 20 years, Fujifabric announced their hiatus, acknowledging the challenges of continuing without him. Previously announced live performances will proceed until their hiatus begins in February 2025, with future activities of the members post-hiatus remaining undecided. The band members also issued a joint statement regarding the announcement of their hiatus.

As we commemorate our 20th anniversary, we sincerely apologize for this sudden announcement.
Formed in 2000 by Masahiko Shimura, Fujifabric lost him in 2009. The time spent with him, the shared experiences, and the sights we saw together are irreplaceable treasures.With these memories in our hearts, the three members of Fujifabric—Soichiro Yamauchi (Vo/Gt), Shinichi Kato (Ba), and Daisuke Kanazawa (Key)—decided to continue our journey in 2011, creating music and protecting this precious place.
During the production of our 12th album “PORTRAIT,” released in February this year, Daisuke Kanazawa expressed his desire to pour his all into this album, sprint through our 20th anniversary year with all his might, and then leave the band. Despite numerous discussions among members and staff, Daisuke’s firm conviction that he had given everything to the band over these 20 years made it difficult to continue as a band. Therefore, we have decided to suspend our activities.
In the future, each member will embark on new paths. Whether these paths will lead back to Fujifabric or not, we honestly do not know at this time. For now, we want to dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to each remaining live performance and each song.
We have repeatedly questioned ourselves about the mission to protect Fujifabric and have operated with the belief of being a “band that will never disband.” We deeply apologize for disappointing our fans with this decision.
We sincerely thank all our fans who have supported Fujifabric with love, the media throughout the country, and all the artists who have saved our band multiple times.
Regarding the members’ activities after February next year, they are currently undecided. We hope for your warm support when they take their next steps.
