Lolo’s stage play and tanka poem “Akitekara” will be performed at Euro Live in Shibuya, Tokyo, from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, September 1.
Founded in 2009 by playwright and director Naoyuki Miura, Lolo’s 2015 production of “Hansamu na Daigo” was nominated as a finalist for the 60th Kishida Kunio Drama Award.
The performance is a new creative challenge of “theater x tanka” by Lolo, which has collaborated with artists of different genres in the past, and invites poet Ayumi Uesaka to participate. The play is based on a tanka poem written by Uesaka in response to a scene Miura wrote about three men and women sharing a room in a suburban apartment, and carefully and comically depicts “those days” and “after that” of people who have grown tired of each other.
Miura will write the script and direct. The cast includes Kazunori Kamejima, Ayano Mochizuki, and Hana Morimoto (all of Lolo), as well as Uesaka and comedian and poet Geronimo Suzuki. Music will be provided by Summer Eye.
