The trailer and visuals for the film ‘KINDS OF KINDNESS,’ which will be released in Japan on September 27 (Friday), have been released.
Following the success of ‘Poor Things,’ which won the Golden Lion at the 80th Venice International Film Festival and garnered a total of four awards, including Emma Stone’s second Best Actress award at the 96th Academy Awards following ‘La La Land,’ director Yorgos Lanthimos teams up again with Emma Stone for their latest venture. Joining them are Willem Dafoe and Margaret Qualley, who also starred in ‘The Favourite,’ alongside talented actors such as Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamadou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.
The film is composed of three separate stories, with the cast playing different characters in each episode: a man struggling to reclaim his life, a husband whose missing wife has become a different person since her return, and a woman searching for a special person destined to become a preeminent religious leader. The stories share common themes such as “love” and “control,” which are fearlessly portrayed by Lanthimos’ originality. Jesse Plemons won the Best Actor Award at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival.
In the trailer, we see Emma Stone driving a sports car and smiling as she says, “I’ve been found,” Hunter Shaffer trying to start something in front of a dead body in a hospital room, and Willem Defoe and Hong Chau performing a mysterious ritual. Other mysterious images are shown one after another, and the film concludes with a scene of the dogs driving a car.
The visuals feature an innovative design with the actors’ faces made into masks. The film is described as a “brain-storming masterpiece” and “deeply moving,” foreshadowing the disturbing and unpredictable world of “Lanthimos.
