Satoko Shibata’s latest single, “Reebok,” will be released as a 7-inch single cut from her latest album, “Your Favorite Things,” on Wednesday, August 21.
“Your Favorite Things” is Shibata’s seventh original album, released on Wednesday, February 28. The song, “Reebok,” which Shibata had been hoping to cut as a single since the album’s release, was created under the theme of “neo-city pop” and depicts the feeling of being close to someone while wearing Reebok shoes out and about, with a scene of rain pouring down.
The B-side features a remix by tofubeats, the first time that tofubeats has remixed a Shibata song. Comments from Shibata and tofubeats have also been released.
In conjunction with the release of this information, the artwork for the single’s jacket has also been unveiled. The art direction is by Kei Sakawaki, the same as for “Your Favorite Things”.

Satoko Shibata
Seven years have passed since I first introduced Satoko Shibata’s “Koukai” on a TV program, despite not knowing her at the time. She continues to be a singular singer-songwriter (SSW) then and now. Having the opportunity to remix her music and collaborate with her on this project is a tremendous honor. I wondered which track from her latest work would resonate with me, and it turned out to be the stem data for “Reebok.” The timing of this 7-inch release coincides with the rainy season, and the remix reflects that atmosphere. Please take your time at home and enjoy dropping the needle on it.
