The Chinese remake of the film ‘100 Yen Love’ (2014), ‘YOLO Hundred Yuan Love,’ will open in Japan on Friday, July 5.
The film was an exceptionally long-running hit, winning a total of 21 awards in Japan and abroad, including the “Japan Academy Award” for Best Actress for its lead actress, Sakura Ando, who took on the challenge of boxing. The film was remade into ‘Ruler Guntan,’ directed by and starring Jah Lin, a comedian and actor who has gained national popularity in China, and was released in February 2024. The decision to produce “YOLO: Love at 100 Yuan” was made after a Chinese film company offered the Toei Group to remake the film after Jia Lin was impressed by Sakura Ando in “Love at 100 Yen”. Story
Do Lo-yin (Jah Lin), a 32-year-old unemployed slacker who stays at home, has a big fight with his sister one day and finally decides to leave home. He meets a boxer named Hao Kung (Lai Chia-ying) by chance and falls in love with him and decides to take up boxing, but after losing a match, Kung quits the gym and disappears from Lo Ying’s life.
