Contemporary art gallery KOTARO NUKAGA (Tennozu) will move from the third floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX I to the first floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX II at the end of June 2024.
KOTARO NUKAGA has been developing a highly original gallery program with cutting-edge artists from Japan and abroad, based in Roppongi, a crossroads of different cultures, and Tennozu, a center of contemporary art. The new space is composed of a small gallery near the entrance and a “L-shaped” space in the back, the largest of its kind in Japan, with a ceiling height of 5.5 meters.
The opening will feature a solo exhibition by Rhizomatiks, a creative collective led by Daito Manabe and Motoi Ishibashi that explores new possibilities for technology and expression, focusing on experimental projects with a strong R&D component, and has also held numerous exhibitions of contemporary art. This will be the first time for Rhizomatiks to hold a large-scale exhibition at a gallery and sell the works.
KOTARO NUKAGA (Tennozu)” on the third floor of TERRADA ART COMPLEX I was renamed “KOTARO NUKAGA Three”. In addition to exhibitions, KOTARO NUKAGA continues to develop further as “a space that expands the way of being, thinking, and enjoying contemporary art, with the viewer at the center,” through various projects such as the operation of a viewing room that permanently exhibits the works of its artists and the establishment of a laboratory that conducts research on contemporary art.
