NiEW’s Monthly Free Event exPoP!!!!! to Showcase Akihisa Kitazato, Yutai Communications, Ålborg, and Yama Futatsu

NiEW’s admission-free music event “exPoP!!!!! Vol. 162” will be held on Friday, May 31 at Spotify O-nest in Shibuya, Tokyo.

This year’s event will feature four groups: Akihisa Kitazato, Yutai Communications, Ålborg, and Yama Futatsu.

Akihisa Kitazato began his career in 2009 as a free-form solo unit Alfred Beach Sandal. After singing and playing guitar and in a band, he released his first full-length album “Tones” under the name Akihisa Kitazato in 2019; “In Bloom” in 2020 and “Blink of Oasis” in 2022 ” was released as a distributed single to favorable reviews, and in December 2023 he released his fifth full-length album, “Time of Sand, City of Water.”

Yutai Communications is a three-piece unit formed in Kyoto in 2019. On top of a cheap and strange sound that is a compressed copy and mixture of various music such as folk and hip-hop, they cohabitate the innocent singing voices of mixed gender and the world of poetry that responds to the four seasons. In 2023, they released a mini-album “Pilgrim’s Season” and performed on the ROOKIE A GO-GO stage at “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’23. On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, they released a new song, “Beat my Spring (Die Spring!). was released on May 8, 2024 (Wed.).

Ålborg is a five-piece indie rock band formed in Yokohama in 2022. Since the release of their first single “Girl” in August of the same year, they have attracted attention mainly in Yokohama and Tokyo. The band has released seven singles via distribution so far, and in July 2023, they released their first 7-inch from Kakubarhythm. The band’s deep compositions, which are composed of diverse elements such as trombone, flute, and steel guitar, captivate audiences.

Yama Futatsu was formed in 2021 by Kenta Suzuki, Serious Takara, Hirotomo Kawai, and Kana Sakato, all of whom have diverse origins and are also active in design and stage expression in addition to music. Suzuki, Kora, and Kawai are in charge of composing music, and they perform with different vocals and instruments according to the song, while Sakafuji dances during live performances, pursuing alternative pop songs with free senses and expressions.

Additionally, Yama Futatsu was selected to perform through an audition held on “TuneCore Japan.” Auditions for performers for the June and July “exPoP!!!!!” are currently being held on “TuneCore Japan,” with the deadline set for Thursday, June 6th at 11:59 PM.
