The Grand Prize and Special Award works for the 7th “APPLE VINEGAR -Music Award-” have been determined.
The “APPLE VINEGAR -Music Award-” is a music work award established in 2018 by Masafumi Goto of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. Referencing the Akutagawa Award in the literary world, the award is given to an album released by an up-and-coming musician in the early stages of his or her career, with the intention of supporting young musicians by offering prize money to support the creation of later works.
In 2024, 12 albums were nominated, and the jury consisted of 6 members: accobin (songwriter/composer/performer), Licaxxx (DJ/beatmaker/editor), Yuki Mihara (TV personality/radio DJ), Tomoko Ariizumi (editor-in-chief of music magazine “MUSICA”), and music producer/composer/arranger, Kouichi Tsutaya and Goto. The Grand Prize and Special Prize were selected by a panel of judges.
The Grand Prize went to “no public sounds,” the second album by Ohzora Kimishima, and the Special Prizes went to Sasuke Haraguchi’s first album, “Acetone,” and Bun Noguchi’s first album, “botto.” Kimishima will receive 610,000 yen as prize money, and Haraguchi and Noguchi will receive 400,000 yen.
