Photographer Masayoshi Sukita’s exhibition “SUKITA IN KYOTO” will be held at Kyoto Tsutaya from May 10 (Fri) to June 9 (Sun).
Sukita has created portraits and advertising visual images for world-famous musicians such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Marc Bolan, and YMO. His iconic works reflecting the zeitgeist, supported by a deep trust in his subjects, have greatly influenced creators and artists around the world, and a documentary film, “SUKITA: Moments of Engraved Artists,” was released in 2018.
The exhibition will feature four works that accompanied David Bowie on his private time in Kyoto when he visited the city in 1980, and five portraits of YMO, Kiyoshiro Imawano, and others, which will be on display and for sale.
To commemorate the exhibition, a special limited edition of the book “SUKITA ETERNITY” with prints will be available for pre-order in stores, as well as an art tote bag with a print of “future,” a work taken by Sukita in the 1970s.
