Tsui no Sumika’s stage play “Deep in the woods” will be performed at Sengawa Theatre in Chofu, Tokyo, from May 24 (Fri.) to 26 (Sun.).
Starting their activities in 2019, Tsui no Sumika creates contemporary plays that consist of everyday conversations, based on the substratum that there is only one self and a lot of people who are not oneself.
This performance won the “Audience Award” at the 13th SENGAWA THEATRE COMPETITION. Nao Sakamoto, who writes and directs the piece, says of the work, “The motif of this piece is a forest. How do you put yourself in the wide outside world where there are not only others? commented the director. The cast includes Azusa Takahashi from Tsui no Sumika, Tomohisa Takeda (Bungakuza), and Kazuki Kushio (Seinendan, Group Nohara).
Tickets are on sale now. A video streaming of the performance is also scheduled after the show.
