Boy group INI’s new song “Whatever Happens” has been chosen as the opening theme for the anime “Toukendanbu Maze -Kyoden Konyuru Honnoji-” to be broadcast on Tuesday, April 2 at 23:00.
The new animation is based on the game “Toukendanshi,” in which famous swords appear as male characters called “Toukendanshi,” and the stage play “Kyoden: Konyuru Honnoji,” which premiered in 2016. Kenichi Suemitsu, who also wrote the script and directed the stage production, continues to write the series composition and script. The story is about four sword fighters, whose former master is Nobunaga Oda, who go to battle in the “Honnoji Incident,” where Nobunaga is assassinated, and protect past history from “revisionists” who plan to change history through conflicts.
INI’s “Whatever Happens” is a song written especially for the anime, with lyrical lyrics that follow the worldview of the anime, and a tone that is close to the characters in the story. The song will be released digitally at midnight on Wednesday, April 3, one hour after the first episode airs, and a sample of the song can be heard in the trailer released on YouTube on Friday, March 15.
The official X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok for the anime “Toukendanbu Maze” also feature a commentary video by INI.
