The a cappella jazz chorus group BROAD6 will be holding their tour “BROAD6 Spring Tour 2024 ~Interpretation~”.
BROAD6 was formed in 2010 by six jazz chorus freaks from the a cappella groups “RAG FAIR” and “INSPi,” which made their major label debut on the same day and have performed together in many live performances. The group’s repertoire is characterized by its outstanding chorus work, which is characterized by a five-octave range, from top chorus member Yoshiyuki Kato to bass vocalist Keisuke Yoshida, and a wide repertoire that covers mainly jazz numbers but also includes The Beatles and “Ue wo muite arukou.”
Since its formation, the group’s activities have centered on live performances at BLUE NOTE and other venues in Japan and video postings on YouTube, and in 2023 it released its first album “BROAD6,” the first in its career. The album features nine songs from a repertoire spanning 14 years, including “Stardust” and “Moon River,” which have been performed live since the band’s early days. Many of the songs on the album were arranged by Yoshida, who also serves as chorus director for Little Glee Monster and other groups.
The group has a tradition of holding solo performances every spring and fall, and this tour will take them to a record number of five cities: STAR☆EYES in Nagoya, Aichi on April 13 (Sat), Live Spot RAG in Sanjo, Kyoto on April 20 (Sat), Brick Warehouse K-wave in Kobe, Hyogo on April 21 (Sun), and STAR☆EYES in Sendai, Miyagi on April 27 (Sat). (Sat.) at STARDUST in Sendai, Miyagi, and May 12 (Sun.) at COTTON CLUB in Marunouchi, Tokyo. The Kyoto show will be held in the hometown of Shinji Okumura (4th part) and Atsushi Sugita (3rd part), and the Sendai show will be held in the birthplace of Kenichi Arai (2nd part).
Tickets for the Nagoya, Kyoto, and Tokyo performances will be available on the venues’ official websites, while tickets for the Kobe and Sendai performances will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis through Lo-chique. More details are also announced on 5th part Tsuyohiko Kita’s official X (formerly Twitter) and the group’s official Facebook.
