The Japanese release date for the film “Oppenheimer” (original title: Oppenheimer) has been confirmed for March 29 (Friday).
The film achieved a remarkable five wins, including Best Drama, at the 81st Golden Globe Awards announced on January 8 (Monday). Additionally, it received nominations in a record-setting 13 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay, at the 96th Academy Awards announced on January 23 (Tuesday). Based on the true story of Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist who developed the atomic bomb, the film has grossed over $950 million worldwide since its U.S. release in July 2023, making it the highest-grossing biographical film depicting a real-life figure.
Directed, written, and produced by Christopher Nolan, the film features Killian Murphy in the lead role, along with a star-studded cast including Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, and more.
The original biography was translated into Japanese in 2007, and a three-volume paperback edition with a new translation and commentary was released by Hayakawa Shobo on January 22 (Mon.).
