Victor Erice’s new film “Close Your Eyes” will be released in Japan on February 9, 2024.
The film, the director’s fourth feature film and first in 31 years, was presented at the Cannes Premiere section of the 76th Cannes International Film Festival. The film is a human mystery about the “life” and “memory” of Julio, an actor who disappeared during the filming of a movie, and his best friend Miguel, a film director at the time.
Miguel is played by Manolo Solo and Julio by Jose Coronado. Ana Torrent, who starred in the director’s debut film “The Whisper of the Honeybee” as the then 5-year-old girl Ana, will play the role of “Ana,” Julio’s daughter, in “Eyes Closed.
Along with the decision to release the film in Japan, a poster visual for the Japanese version was also released. The silhouette of Miguel reaching out his hand is projected on the screen of a movie theater where the face of a girl closing her eyes is projected.
