The story revolves around Mona Lisa Lee, a mysterious girl isolated in a mental hospital for 12 years, who suddenly awakens with special powers. The film depicts how she escapes from the hospital ward and arrives in New Orleans, a city of excitement and pleasure, where she meets various people and demonstrates her special powers.
The film is directed by Ana Lili Amiripour, who has been called “the next generation of Tarantino. Her debut black-and-white horror film “The Vampire: The Girl with the Cruel Fangs” was highly acclaimed, and her previous film “Madtown” won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Starring in the film is Korean actor Jung Jung Soo, who has garnered attention for his roles in the Netflix horror film “The Call” and the drama “Paper House Korea: Steal the Unified Currency. Kate Hudson of “Those Days with Penny Lane” plays a dancer who buddies with Mona Lisa.
