The official website, online screen, and “DOOR” theater for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA)’s “Autumn International Short Film Festival” opened on Thursday, September 28.
The event will be held at the online venue from Thursday, September 28 to Friday, October 27, and at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Ebisu, Tokyo, from Thursday, October 19 to Sunday, October 22. Short film screenings and seminar events will also be held at three other locations in Tokyo: Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, Theater Guild Daikanyama, and Akasaka Intercity Conference.
Special screenings at these events have also been announced. In conjunction with the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), the 53rd Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winning film “Anino” by Philippine director Raymond Redd, who is also one of this year’s TIFF jury members, and the TIFF Gala Selection section’s official invitation to this year’s festival, Ryutaro Nakagawa’s SSFF & ASIA 2023 Live Action section Japan Special Screening “I Lived in This Town” directed by Ryutaro Nakagawa, an official selection of this year’s TIFF Gala Selection section. The screening of the short film “Ennen” by 19-year-old director Kisho Muramatsu, who was born out of the Nara International Film Festival’s “NARAtive Jr.” program, for which Kawase Naomi serves as executive director, has also been scheduled.
With the opening of the website, information on events has also been released, including an online creators’ seminar on Wednesday, October 18 with Poland-based director Izumi Yoshida, winner of the SSFF & ASIA 2023 Grand Prix for “Kibo no Kakehashi”; on Thursday, October 19, an online creators’ seminar with Ayame Rigoriki and directors of “MASKAHOLIC,” “Eggs and Ayako,” and “Scars,” all 2020 films in which Rigoriki appeared, will take the stage at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography Hall, where the three films will be screened and a talk session will be held about the production of the films at the time and the appeal of short films.
On October 22 (Sun), “Grandmother’s Skin,” “Okao Hagoromo,” and “In a Town with an Ocean View” will be screened in the hall of the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and the director of “In a Town with an Ocean View,” Natsuzu Miyagi, will be a guest speaker at the talk show.
Reservations for the talk event and screenings at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography will be accepted from 14:00 on September 28 (Thu).
