The program of all artists for “New Horizon: From History to the Future,” an exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of Arts Maebashi, a public art museum in Maebashi, Gunma, has been announced.
The exhibition will be held from October 14 (Saturday) to February 12, 2024 (Monday, national holiday) at various locations in downtown Maebashi, with Arts Maebashi as the main venue. Arts Maebashi, which has been the base for cultural and artistic activities by Maebashi citizens and artists, has held many exhibitions and regional art projects.
The main venue, Arts Maebashi, will exhibit works by 17 artists, including Refik Anadolu, Cai Guo-Qiang, and Tomokazu Matsuyama. A wide variety of art activities will also be held, including the addition and opening to the public of exhibits by Mika Ninagawa and visual design studio WOW at facilities in Maebashi, digital art and theater performances utilizing vacant buildings and tenants, and large-scale projection mapping using the Gunma Prefectural Government Showa Office Building. The direction of the project is by Fumio Nanjo, Maebashi City Strategic Advisor for Culture and the Arts and Special Director of Arts Maebashi.
Along with the announcement of the full artist program, the exhibition logo by Yuri Kaminishi was also unveiled. The theme of the exhibition, “New Horizon,” is linked to the various spaces and situations in Maebashi, expressing the variable nature of the exhibition, which expands into “new perspectives, horizons, and realms” in a 3D manner.
Arts Maebashi is conducting a crowdfunding campaign on the ” Furusato Choice” tax payment website to support the exhibition, which ends on Saturday, September 30, and offers a variety of prizes including the right to participate in a party with the exhibiting artists.
