The “Kisotengai Film Festival 2023” will be held at K’s cinema in Shinjuku, Tokyo, from September 16 (Sat) to October 6 (Fri).
The “Kisotengai Film Festival” has been held since 2019. The 5th edition of the festival will screen a total of 15 films.
Films to be screened include the 28th Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner “Ahdat sanawovach el-djamr” which will be shown for the first time in Japan, “Decoder,” in which F.M. Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten plays a young FM who brainwashes people with noise, Jane Birkin’s memorial film ” Wonderwall” and “Cannabis”. Other films include “Le nain rouge” “Streetwise” “Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol” “Adventures of Robinson Crusoe” “People on Sunday” “No Room for the Groom” “The Big Heat” “The American Dreamer” “Kerouac, the Movie” “Liquid Sky” and “Zardoz” are also on the lineup.
On September 17 (Sun.), after the 18:30 screening of “Decoder,” music writer Toshikazu Otaka and radio DJ Kazuho Shida will hold a commemorative event to celebrate the opening of the film.
