“Gegege no Kitaro Tribute Art Exhibition Kitaro Expo ” is being held at the Sunshine City Bunka Kaikan Building in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from August 11 (Friday, national holiday) to August 27 (Sunday).
The exhibition is part of a project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Shigeru Mizuki, the creator of “Gegege no Kitaro. Visitors can enjoy the fascination of the original works of “Gegege no Kitaro” through tribute art by a total of 72 artists and creators, all of which will be sold by lottery at a later date. There will also be a corner looking back on the history of the “Gegege no Kitaro” animation series, as well as a corner selling original event goods.
The exhibition’s official website has also posted a report on the press preview event featuring Hitoshi Katagiri, his second son Shunta, Shigeru Mizuki’s eldest daughter Naoko Haraguchi, and Satoru Takami, producer of the sixth season of the anime “Gegege no Kitaro” (Gegege’s Wife). The report also includes an episode in the making of “Menbo God” by Jin Katagiri, who played the role of the god of poverty in the NHK drama “Gegege no Nyobo” and also participated in the exhibition as an artist.
