Music director and critic Yuji Shibasaki’s new book, “Pop Music Repeats Revivals: The History of Music Reception of ‘Re-contextualization'” will be published on Wednesday, August 16, 2012.
The book focuses on the theme of “revival” in the history of pop music. The book delves into new movements such as folk, rock and roll, rare groove, Shibuya-kei, new age, Afrobeat, drum and bass, and pop punk that emerged along with revivals of past music, and describes the “making present of the past” in the book.
Shibasaki has written a series of articles, including ” The Selection of Music Creates Movies ” for NiEW and “The Future is Nostalgic” for TURN. He has published “Music Goes On” (Music Magazine) and “What is City Pop” (Kawade Shobo Shinsha).
