Tomokazu Matsuyama’s exhibition “MATSUYAMA Tomokazu: Fictional Landscape” will be held at the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art in Hirosaki, Aomori from October 27 (Friday) to March 17 (Sunday), 2024.
Tomokazu Matsuyama is a New York-based artist who creates paintings, sculptures, and installations. This is Matsuyama’s first solo exhibition at a Japanese museum.
The exhibition will include paintings such as “Cluster 2020” and “Broken Train Pick Me” created under the Corona Disaster, “People With People” in collaboration with musician Yuzu, and two works “Mother Other” and “This is What It Feels Like ED.2” will be exhibited for the first time in Japan. In addition to 23 works, including 9 new works, which are exhibited for the first time in Japan, a total of 30 recent paintings and sculptures will be exhibited.
During the exhibition, there will be talk sessions between Matsuyama and students, gallery tours by curatorial staff, and other events. For details, please check the official website.
