The film “R.M.N.” will be released in Japan on Saturday, October 14.
The film is a suspense film set in a small village in Transylvania, central Romania. Matthias returns to his Transylvanian village from Germany after a violent incident. Unsure of how to deal with his wife, his son, who has lost the ability to speak after an incident in the forest, and his ailing father, he seeks solace in his former lover, Sheila. Meanwhile, the local factory, of which Sheila is in charge, welcomes foreign workers from Asia, which causes uneasiness between Sheila and the villagers. This socially-conscious film clearly depicts the perilous situation of a divided world.
Directed and written by Christiane Mungiu, winner of the Best Actress and Best Screenplay awards at the 65th Cannes Film Festival for “Prayer Without Stain” and the Best Director award at the 69th Cannes Film Festival for “For Eliza”. The cast includes Marin Grigore, Edith Staate, and Macrina Barladeanu.
