Isao Takahata Exhibition”Isao Takahata’s Legacy in Japanese Animation” is being held at the Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu) until September 18 (Mon, national holiday).
Isao Takahata was born and raised in Mie Prefecture and has produced many works as an animation film director. The exhibition is organized with a focus on Isao Takahata’s directing techniques.
The exhibition will introduce previously unseen materials, such as production notes and storyboards, and will chronologically introduce Takahata’s works from his days as an assistant director at Toei Doga (now Toei Animation), TV animations such as “Heidi, Girl of the Alps” and “Anne of Green Gables,” and Studio Ghibli works such as “Heisei Raccoon War Pompoko” and “The Story of Princess Kaguya”.
