Kinoshita Kabuki will present “Kanjincho” at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, Theater East in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from September 1.
Kinoshita Kabuki is an organization that promotes the possibilities of kabuki performance in the modern age, while taking into account its historical context. The group has been active since 2006, mainly in Kyoto, in the style of presenting works by a variety of directors, with the leader, Yuichi Kinoshita, providing guidelines.
Kinoshita Yuichi, head of the Kinoshita Kabuki Theater, is supervising and complementing the production of “Kanjincho,” and Kunio Sugihara, head of KUNIO, is directing the production and providing art direction.It premiered in Yokohama and Kyoto in 2010, with a recreated version in 2016.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on July 1. Performances are also scheduled in Okinawa, Nagano, Okayama, Yamaguchi, Ibaraki, and Kyoto. Check the official website for details.
