Seppuku Pistols will release two singles simultaneously on Sunday, June 30.
Seppuku Pistols led by Captain Iida Danko, is a traditional Japanese instrument ensemble consisting of over 20 members. They began their activities in their current style in 2011 following the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. Known for performances at festivals, shrines and temples, demonstration venues, live houses, and impromptu street performances, they gained attention for guerrilla live performances in Times Square and Harlem, New York in 2018. They also performed at Expo 2020 Dubai in 2022.”
The single to be released this time is the band’s first single in four years. Two representative songs, “Nanoriage Kojo” performed at the beginning of the live show and “Yakebushi” at the end of the show, will be distributed through various subscription services and will also be sold as a sonosheet disc.
The recording was conducted with engineer Kohei Kazama (Mistake Studio) and Natsumi Omori, at the shrine office next to Tamahime Park in the Yanya district of Tokyo. The mastering was handled by Kentaro Kimura (kimken studio), aiming to recreate a sense of presence in monaural format.
The vinyl records will be sold at various record stores and concert venues nationwide. Disk Union will start accepting pre-orders from Monday, June 24. Other retailers will be announced in due course on Kubikiri Pistols’ official social media channels.
In addition, performances are scheduled in early August in London and Bristol, UK. Starting with performances at Cafe OTO, where acts like The Sun Ra Arkestra and Yoko Ono have performed in the past, the band plans to play at galleries and bars. Currently, four performances have been announced, with more dates to be added to the schedule and announced on their official social media as they are confirmed.
